Chapter 11 Water and Fire in Harmony, Life in Hand
Chapter 11 Water and Fire in Harmony, Life in Hand
Don't worry about whether the steps are right or wrong, I'm just asking you, have I mastered it? What? You've gone mad from practicing qi? That's because you're bad! If you're bad, practice more! —Anonymous author of "My Mischievous Friend Chunyang Daojun"
The essence of medicine, according to the Wuzhen Pian, should be collected urgently when encountering Gui (癸).
Gui is a Heavenly Stem, corresponding to the initial movement of Yang.
The corresponding real-world time is the winter solstice, which is the coldest time of the year. After that, the cold ends and the yang energy begins to grow, and the world gradually warms up.
But it's definitely impossible to cultivate only once a year. How could someone become an immortal or attain the Dao with such a cultivation method?
Since it is the time between birth and death, perhaps I can use my consciousness to reflect on myself and then look for an opportunity?
Chen Chunan's inhabiting consciousness began to reflect on himself, carefully exploring the origins of his liver and kidneys.
Under the guidance of his conscious mind, Chen Chunan's five internal organs disappeared, and his five vital energies manifested.
The Qi of the Liver Wood is like the flourishing trees of the East, full of vitality, with all things thriving.
With a thought, Chen Chunan felt the Five Elements spiritual energy in his lower dantian, which had not yet recovered and had less than one-fifth of its original amount, rise again from the Du meridian and pass through the Jiaji point.
This was originally a trial exercise of Qi circulation, completely different from the basic Qi absorption technique that Chen Chunan had learned.
The quiet room was specially built for the clan, and a small spirit-gathering array with water and wood attributes was set up for He Chen Hongxian's spiritual root.
Chen Chunan drew the spiritual power from his lower dantian upwards through the Du meridian, directly causing the water and wood spiritual energy in the quiet room to gather wildly.
Nourished by the spiritual energy of water and wood, the spiritual power, originally the size of a grain of rice, rapidly expanded to the size of a goose egg, and its attributes almost transformed into dual attributes of water and wood.
When the journey reached the Shenshu acupoint, the five internal organs, which were originally manifested as five Qi clusters, were instantly stimulated by the consciousness.
The kidney water qi, stimulated by this, transformed into a dark and deep abyss, while the liver wood yang qi transformed into a green dragon swimming in the abyss, appearing and disappearing as if it were about to emerge from the water.
Chen Chunan was overjoyed. The Qi of the Lesser Yang of the Liver Wood had transformed into a magnificent Azure Dragon. The moment it emerged from the water and entered the Li Palace would be the moment Chen Chunan captured it.
Just as Chen Chunan waited patiently, the spiritual energy of water and wood continued to flow in, agitating the Azure Dragon at the bottom of the abyss, which began to swim towards the surface.
The dragon head burst forth from the water and headed straight for the detached palace.
Before long, the auspicious green dragon flew into the middle dantian, igniting a raging fire in the heart.
Chen Chunan felt an intense heat surge within him. Without hesitation, he channeled his long-prepared Five Elements spiritual power into a giant net, capturing the creature.
This situation perfectly aligns with what Master Zhong said: the true fire from the Li Palace goes to the kidney yang.
The next step is to enter the Kan Palace and obtain the Yin of the Heart.
Lü Zuyun said: "Kidney water generates qi, and within this qi is true water, called Yin Tiger. When the tiger sees the fluid, they meet. Heart fire generates fluid, and within this fluid is pure yang qi, called Yang Dragon. When the dragon sees the qi, they unite."
However, Zhong Zu said: The tiger is a yin creature. In terms of imagery, it is the White Tiger; in terms of direction, it is Geng and Xin; in terms of things, it is metal; in terms of time, it is autumn; in terms of the Dao, it is righteousness; in terms of the trigram, it is Dui; and in terms of the five internal organs of the human body, it is the lungs.
Once the two had discussed it, Chen Chunan had an idea: "When tigers meet, they are bound by the yin energy of the kidneys. By using the yin energy of the kidneys, we can lure them into the Kan Palace."
Chen Chunan followed the same method and soon captured the White Tiger from the Kan Palace.
From then on, he captured both the Azure Dragon and the White Tiger.
Chen Chunan breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, he was also faced with a dilemma.
Both the dragon and the tiger are trapped, but how can they be subdued?
The Wuzhen Pian states:
The golden cauldron desires to retain the vermilion mercury, while the jade pool first releases the silver from the water.
The divine skill of manipulating fire is not perpetual; it manifests in the deep pool as the sun rises once more.
In internal alchemy, mercury is considered the essence, representing the consciousness, the metal element of the lungs, and the yin of the heart. It corresponds to the spirit among the three treasures of essence, qi, and spirit.
Jade Pool can be interpreted as a pool of desire; silver in water can be interpreted as lust in water; dragons are lustful by nature; the Qi of the liver wood transforms into a green dragon, which is the Yang of the kidneys! It corresponds to the essence among the three treasures of essence, Qi and spirit.
And said:
The red dragon and black tiger each go to the west and east, and the four symbols intersect in the center of the earthly branches.
From this point on, one can utilize the Fu Gou hexagram; who can say that the Golden Elixir cannot be successfully obtained?
Chen Chunan had an idea. With a thought, the Five Elements spiritual energy flowed out of his dantian again, directly obtaining a ball of spleen qi and entering the Yellow Court. It landed and was born as an ancient and simple cauldron with two ears and three legs, combining the two polarities and the three powers.
Chen Chunan cleared his mind of all distractions and focused solely on using his spiritual sense to subdue the White Tiger and the Five Elements spiritual power to bind the Azure Dragon.
It was thrown straight into the cauldron.
After the dragon and tiger entered the cauldron, they seemed like enemies meeting, and fought each other head-on.
Looking at the scene before him, Chen Chunan immediately thought of the two couplets in the Wuzhen Pian.
The Wuzhen Pian states:
A majestic tiger roars atop Mount Hua, while a female dragon sings its song from the depths of the Fusang Sea.
The old woman herself arranged the marriage, hoping they would become husband and wife and be of one mind.
Then again:
If you truly want to retain lead and mercury, you must be close to your inner circle and never leave your family's retainers.
The separation of wood and metal is without cause, entirely due to the matchmaker's seduction.
Wood's nature is to love Metal's righteousness, and Metal's affection is to love Wood's kindness.
They devoured and ate each other, yet became intimate; only then did they realize the man was pregnant.
Therefore, we are currently lacking spleen qi as a matchmaker.
This matchmaker is Sha Wujing, who is also associated with the Qi of the spleen. Taoists call her Huang Po.
For Kan and Li to interact, they must first combine the male metal and the female wood.
With a thought, Chen Chunan mobilized the spleen qi contained within the cauldron.
Once the spleen qi enters, it causes the lung metal qi and liver wood qi to become mixed together, and the two gradually calm down.
But that's not enough.
Yuan Jing (original essence) is obtained from the liver and kidneys, and is truly a great medicine for essence.
There is still a trace of liver wood qi in the consciousness that has not yet entered the furnace.
Furthermore, the *Wuzhen Pian* contains a poem that says:
Zhenlong mercury originates from afar, while Duihu lead is born in the Kan direction.
Both things originate from the mother and child; all five elements must enter the center.
With a thought, Chen Chunan channeled all the remaining liver qi, heart qi, and kidney qi in his consciousness into the furnace.
After Chen Chunan mobilized the five elements and incorporated them into the furnace, a raging fire instantly ignited.
Chen Chunan knew that at this time, only by using real lead and real mercury could the Kan and Li trigrams interact and the Yin and Yang trigrams harmonize.
Under the manipulation of the mind, the Azure Dragon, the embodiment of kidney yang, and the White Tiger, the embodiment of heart yin, were the first to be refined.
The fire element shifts rapidly, and the Qi within the furnace is composed of five Yin and one Yang. The Yin Qi gradually dissipates, while the Yang Qi gradually arises, perfectly aligning with the Fu hexagram.
After about an hour of going through seven cycles and nine transformations, the Qi in the furnace transformed into five Yang and one Yin, gradually melting into a mysterious pearl. This perfectly matched the Gou hexagram.
Seeing that the time was right, Chen Chunan stopped the fire, the Xuanzhu rose up, and headed towards the Niwan Palace.
As it rises, the black color gradually peels away, and white light gradually emerges.
Upon entering the Niwan Palace, it was already a bright and clear Pure Yang Elixir.
The moment the elixir was completed, a stream of primordial, ethereal energy flowed from the fontanelle into the Ren meridian and circulated throughout the body.
Chen Chunan's mouth watered at this moment, the taste was incredibly sweet.
He swallowed it subconsciously, taking seven gulps of the golden liquid before finally finishing it.
After swallowing the Golden Elixir, Chen Chunan felt as if he were bathed in spring sunshine, completely at ease.
Chen Chunan slowly opened his eyes and laughed loudly, "Now that water and fire are in harmony, and my life is in my hands, it's truly like swallowing a golden pill. Only now do I realize that my fate is not in the hands of heaven! How wonderful! How wonderful!"
Only then could Chen Chunan truly complete a practice of the internal alchemy method of "refining essence into qi".
After Chen Chunan stood up, a thought struck him, and a stream of pure Yang Qi slowly condensed.
The moment he cultivated the Golden Elixir, he automatically understood the wondrous uses of Pure Yang Qi.
"Pure Yang Qi is the primordial Qi of innate nothingness, capable of giving birth to heaven and earth and all things. Its essence is extremely high. When my cultivation reaches a high level, I will be able to master the supernatural power of manipulating creation as described by novelists in my previous life without a teacher. If I am injured or lose a limb, I can also regenerate it. Of course, my cultivation is too low now, and my Qi is not enough."
For the first time, Chen Chunan felt that the phrase "the future is bright" was so apt, no longer just an unattainable pie in the sky.
Although Chen Chunan acted boldly, he also made many mistakes along the way.
But with the help of the Five Elements spiritual power, the crooked tree was able to bear fruit.
If this were on Earth in my previous life, I'm afraid at best the three poisons of greed, anger, and ignorance would enter my mind, and at worst I would lose my life on the spot.
How could such a pure yang golden elixir be formed, let alone allow the conscious mind to generate a bit of pure yang, saving decades of hard work?
