Chapter 48 Without recognizing the true tiger and dragon, all efforts will ultimately amount to noth
Do you know that person?
Lin Jing was quite curious; Chen Chunan's tone seemed to indicate that he was quite familiar with this person.
"It's more than just knowing each other!"
Chen Chunan gritted his teeth, and just as he was about to utter a few more curses, several fragments of memory suddenly surfaced.
Or perhaps it's a scene where the restless mind ignites the pure yang fire, burning away the eerie red thread.
Or it could be a scene where Liu Guisheng uses a small teleportation talisman to escape from the Mind Monkey Staff.
Or it could be a scene where the restless mind draws out its pure yang qi to create a physical body.
These fragments of memory gradually pieced together to form a complete memory.
Chen Chunan's face turned ashen.
"I truly underestimated the native cultivators of this world! A mere Foundation Establishment cultivator possesses such bizarre abilities. If it weren't for the Mind Monkey, I fear I would have been truly killed by his schemes!"
"This old dog Liu can't be allowed to live! I must increase my strength and kill the Liu family as soon as possible."
However, although the Mind Monkey saved him, taking away the Pure Yang Elixir Qi and spiritual power also pushed his already crumbling Dao foundation further.
Now, the Pure Yang Elixir has become a delusion, spiritual energy is almost empty, the Yin spirits are obscured, and the Great Sun is deceived.
It seems we'll have to rebuild everything; there's no hope of revenge in the short term.
...
After escaping from the Mind Monkey Staff, Liu Guisheng slept for a day before waking up.
"Ouch! It hurts so much!"
Liu Guisheng held his forehead, feeling a piercing pain radiating from his fontanelle throughout his body.
It made it difficult for him to even concentrate his divine sense.
Trembling, he pulled a bottle of elixirs from his storage ring, poured them haphazardly into his mouth, and swallowed them whole, only then did he feel a little better.
After calming his mind, Liu Guisheng's fear of Chen Chunan reached its peak.
"What kind of fire was that? It was so great and powerful that it was unstoppable. Just a wisp of it burned away my Blood Demon Mind Control Spell."
"And that ape demon, it can actually emerge from the void, but its strength isn't very high. If it hadn't been severely damaged and caught off guard, it might not have been able to hit me!"
"What's even stranger is that this mere Foundation Establishment demon monkey can speak human language? That dark golden staff seems to be the magical artifact that little beast used before, capable of changing size at will! Just what kind of monster has Liu Bai provoked?"
The more Liu Guisheng thought about it, the more terrified he became. He felt as if a colossal figure was standing behind that little beast, making him feel utterly suffocated.
"I still have that blessed Chen woman! Perhaps I can make a comeback!"
Feeling hopeless about revenge, Liu Guisheng was quite decisive. After recuperating and healing his injuries, he headed straight for Zhuilong Ridge, no longer desiring revenge.
The successive blows completely extinguished his desire for revenge.
On the other hand, Chen Chunan, whose foundation had been completely destroyed, was determined to go into seclusion and rebuild his inner alchemy.
As for his spiritual cultivation, it is undamaged. He only needs to cultivate diligently, and his spiritual power can be restored.
Having decided to break down the old and build anew, Chen Chunan naturally intended to do it even more perfectly.
His previous reckless achievement of the Pure Yang Dao Foundation was entirely due to luck.
Now, as he revisits and carefully reflects on the Journey to the West, he finds himself to have made many mistakes.
The Wuzhen Pian states:
Those who refine the elixir of immortality follow the two energies along the ecliptic, unite the three natures in the primordial palace, gather the five elements, harmonize the four symbols, with the dragon roaring and the tiger howling, husband and wife singing in unison, the jade cauldron boiling the soup, the golden furnace blazing the fire, and only then can the mysterious pearl take shape and the Taiyi return to its true form.
...
Some scholars today take lead and mercury as the two energies, refer to the internal organs as the five elements, divide the heart and kidneys into Kan and Li, take the liver and lungs as the dragon and tiger, use the spirit and energy as the mother and child, and hold the body fluids as lead and mercury. They do not know the difference between sinking and floating, and do not distinguish between the host and the guest. All of these are like the sun and moon losing their way, and lead and mercury being in different furnaces. Is it not difficult to form the elixir?
Chen Chunan recalled the Wuzhen Chapter from the beginning.
The heart and kidneys are represented by Kan and Li, and the liver and lungs by Long and Hu. Isn't this exactly the method I practiced before?
Recalling what the Monkey King said, he realized that he had mistaken the Qi of his ordinary liver and lungs for dragons and tigers, but he did not recognize the real tiger (the Monkey King) in front of him.
Did I actually cultivate a fake Golden Core?
Chen Chunan was instantly drenched in cold sweat.
The original Journey to the West foreshadowed this: the Monkey King of the Two Realms Mountain killed a fierce tiger. Tang Sanzang then made a tiger-skin skirt from the tiger skin and had the Monkey King wear it.
The previous story of Liu Boqin eliminating the tiger was also a reminder of the harm caused by tigers and the need to eliminate them urgently. Changchun Zhenren was afraid that people would not understand, so he had Wukong fight the tiger again while wearing a tiger skin skirt.
It's practically a blatant declaration.
Isn't this saying that the Qi of the Lung Metal is actually that of an ordinary tiger, while the true tiger is actually the Mind Monkey?
Sun Wukong's true form is a celestial stone, symbolizing his birth from the Kun Palace. The Kun Palace is located in the southwest, and he is the true Yang within the Kan trigram.
Yin contains Yang!
True Yang can only be seen through "peeling" and then "restoring".
When the first yang arrives, it is called "Fu" (复), which is the hexagram of "Fu" (复). "Zhen" (震) is conceived within "Kun" (坤). Hence, the book says that the monkey in the heart looks like the Thunder God.
Yang emerges from Yin. The Wuzhen Pian calls it the Crescent Moon Furnace because it corresponds to the waxing crescent moon phase, which is Yang within Yin, and its symbol is Kan (water).
In the original Journey to the West, he is also referred to as Jin Gong.
When metal encounters fire (丁), it transforms into liquid, which is called true water or metal in water.
Ordinary water is yin, true water is yang, and true yang is actually the restless mind.
Yes, lead needs to be gathered and collected when it meets Gui (癸), and gold is unbearable to taste after the Wang (望) solar term. I misinterpreted this couplet.
Both lead and gold refer to the restless mind, not to the two physical objects themselves!
The following couplet also indicates: "Sent into an earthen cauldron and sealed tightly, then into a flowing pearl, this is appropriate."
These flowing beads are the real mercury. Mercury is metallic in nature but watery in form. Its shape is not fixed, and it moves like water droplets flowing rather than rolling. Doesn't this perfectly match the appearance of flowing beads?
Changchun Zhenren feared that the world would not understand, so he had already made it clear, but he himself remained foolish and ignorant!
After Chen Chunan realized that the Mind Monkey was originally True Yang and True Lead, two lines of clear tears rolled down his cheeks, both out of self-reproach for his stupidity and out of joy at having heard the true scripture.
Then I was puzzled: why did Master Huayang's "Collection of Teachings of Zhong Lü" state that the tiger is a yin creature? Is it because my understanding is too low to grasp the true meaning?
Metal represents Yang, and Wood represents Yin; one is male and the other female, one is masculine and the other feminine, there must be no mistake.
Could it be that from "Stripping" comes "Restoration," with the return of Yang, stripping away all Yin to reveal true Yang?
Although Chen Chunan already knew that the Heart Monkey was the True Yang, the Heart Monkey had disappeared without a trace, leaving him with no way to proceed.
He could only sigh and say, "The restless mind has already departed, and the trigrams Kan and Li are difficult to reconcile. How can I bring the restless mind back to its right path? Should I eradicate the six thieves?"
Humans are born with a physical body formed from the innate Qi.
Because it contains primordial Qi, Taoists also call it the Primordial Dao Body.
However, the innate Dao body is often obscured by the six thieves.
Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate the six thieves and uphold the righteous path.
How will the six thieves get away?
The six thieves are the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, mind, and body.
Human beings experience joy, anger, love, thought, desire, and sorrow due to sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, and mental objects.
How can one seek the Way when entangled in the six desires?
Nature is about peeling away and then restoring; remove distracting thoughts and leave only a pure heart for the Tao.
Chen Chunan suddenly realized that even though he had cultivated to the point of "refining essence into qi", he had not truly eliminated the six thieves and the righteous mind!
That's why I haven't been able to grasp the true meaning for so long. I seem to have entered the Tao, but in reality, I've only entered a side path.
The fact that the restless mind cannot be reformed is clear proof of this.
In the original book, when Sun Wukong sought the Dao, the place he went to was "Lingtai Fangcun Mountain, Xieyue Sanxing Cave," which means seeking the Dao with his heart.
This mind is not the human mind; it is not attached to form, nor does it fall into nothingness. It is empty and hollow, most ethereal and most spiritual, hence it is called the "spiritual platform and square inch".
The teacher he worshipped was named Subhuti.
The Bodhicitta, as the Buddhist teaching says, is called a seed that can give rise to all Buddhist teachings.
This refers to the mind of Tao.
When the Monkey King met the Patriarch Subhuti on Fangcun Mountain, there were thirty minor immortals on either side of him.
This is the hexagram "Stripping" (剥卦), with one yang line at the top and five yin lines at the bottom.
The five yin lines, five and six, thirty, perfectly match the number of thirty minor immortals.
When Sun Wukong asked the question, the young Taoist said: The Patriarch has sent out countless disciples, and now there are still thirty or forty people following him to cultivate.
Three and four together make seven, signifying a return in seven days.
The process of refining Yin also emphasizes the transition from "peeling" to "restoration".
When Sun Wukong was taught the Dharma, the Patriarch asked him how long he had been on the mountain. He said he didn't know the year or month, but he had eaten his fill of peaches seven times on Rotten Peach Mountain, which also meant that he would return in seven days.
This is precisely the means to rectify one's own heart.
Since that's the case, I will analyze my own heart, strip away the old and restore the new, and eradicate the six thieves!
