Chapter 8 The Wonderful Uses of Visualizing the Body
Chapter 8 The Wonderful Uses of Visualizing the Body
"Brother, brother, I've advanced to the fifth level of Qi Refining!"
Chen Chunan, who had just begun to introspect, was interrupted by Hongxian's delighted voice.
"What? You've advanced to the fifth level of Qi Refining?"
"Yes, I was almost at the fifth level of Qi Refining anyway. Qi Refining is essentially a stage of accumulating spiritual energy. After the cultivation method that the Third Elder promised to give me was delivered the day before yesterday, my speed of refining spiritual energy has increased significantly, and the refined spiritual power is also purer. I broke through after only half an hour of cultivation at noon today! Brother, aren't I amazing!"
"Impressive, impressive! How could my sister not be impressive? But don't get too cocky. Keep this a secret and only tell the clan elders."
"Yeah, I'm not stupid. But I've broken through, isn't there going to be a reward for me, brother?"
"A reward? Uh, your brother is so poor he has to rely on your cultivation resources, where am I supposed to get a reward?"
Chen Chunan shrugged, indicating that he was penniless.
Hongxian frowned in dissatisfaction: "Who wants cultivation resources? You promised to make me garlic fish fillets, crispy fish, and pine-scented mandarin fish when I break through."
Um, I think I did say that.
Chen Chunan immediately relaxed. As long as it wasn't something he couldn't do, it was fine: "Okay, no problem, but we have to wait for your share of spirit fish this month. Right now, I'm like a skilled cook without rice to cook."
Chen Hongxian immediately beamed with joy: "No need to wait, I'll go find the three clan elders in a bit. The clan's breakthrough rewards include not only spirit fish but also pills."
Before Chen Chunan could react, the little girl darted out like a rabbit, bouncing all the way.
Chen Chunan shook his head and chuckled, then continued to introspect.
When Chen Chunan focused his mind on his visualized body, he was astonished to find that not only his own internal organs, but also five clusters of five-colored Qi appeared in the chest of his visualized body.
However, unlike one's own internal organs, one visualizes the five energies of the body forming a yin-yang fish shape.
The fiery red heart energy and a golden-white lung energy form the yang fish, while the black kidney energy and a green liver energy form the yin fish.
The earthy yellow spleen qi became the dividing line of the yin-yang fish.
Besides these, Chen Chunan also saw a small wisp of swirling spiritual energy in his lower dantian, a chaotic mass radiating multicolored light.
This is the spiritual energy cultivation level he achieved after refining his Qi to the third level.
Seeing this, Chen Chunan was somewhat bewildered: The Yellow Emperor's Inner Vision Method didn't mention this situation.
The yin-yang symbol no longer matches what is described in Journey to the West; the metal element representing the Dui trigram is also below!
Shouldn't it be a four-element pattern?
Or perhaps I've misunderstood? Is it that visualizing the physical body doesn't count as the physical body, only the yin spirit does?
How does one cultivate to become a Yin spirit?
No! No! The first step is to refine essence into qi. I haven't even refined my innate qi yet, how dare I presume to cultivate the yin spirit first?
However, even if one contemplates that one's body was created by a god, the ultimate goal is still to transform into a Yang spirit.
Even now, it would be correct to consider it as a spirit of the underworld.
According to the Cantongqi, now is the time to activate the true yang, release the primordial essence, and reverse the technique back into the cauldron to transform it into the sweet and mysterious pearl!
It is a powerful medicine for strengthening "Qi".
In his previous life, Chen Chunan had also dabbled in some Taoist books and had some knowledge of Taoist concepts such as lead and mercury, dragon and tiger, Kan and Li, yellow sprout, and mysterious pearl.
Lead is said to be a great medicine for replenishing essence, but this essence is not acquired essence.
Or, to put it another way, the essence acquired after birth contains true "essence" but cannot be used directly.
Essence is true lead, which is Kan Yang, which is Ren water, which is kidney Yang.
Mercury is Qi, Yin is Li, Bing fire is Xin Yin.
But what kind of technique is this?
Chen Chunan struggled to recall the Taoist books he had read in his previous life in order to interpret Journey to the West.
The "Guide to Life and Destiny" points out that one should use the Yang lead of Ren water to control the mercury of Bing fire.
The poem in *Wuzhen Pian* says:
This method is truly wondrous, and even more wondrous, all because I am uniquely different from others.
I know that the ups and downs are caused by the trigrams Kan and Li; who can tell whether the rise and fall are determined by the master and guest?
The golden cauldron desires to retain the vermilion mercury, while the jade pool first releases the silver from the water.
The divine skill of manipulating fire is not a one-day affair; it manifests in the deep pool as the sun rises once more.
When he thought of this poem, it was as if a flash of inspiration struck Chen Chunan's mind, stirring up a thousand waves, but he could not find it anywhere.
Chen Chunan silently recited the poem "The Perfect Union of Exoteric and Esoteric Teachings" once again.
The True and Wonderful Secret of the Perfect Integration of Exoteric and Esoteric Buddhism…

The moon hides the jade rabbit, the sun hides the crow, and the tortoise and snake intertwine.
Intertwined and resilient, they can even grow golden lotuses in fire.
"The moon hides the jade rabbit, the sun hides the crow; the tortoise and snake are intertwined. Do they know that this reversal arises from the trigrams Kan and Li?"
Whether it's the tortoise and snake, or the sun and moon, they all represent the concepts of yin and yang.
In the human body, the Kan position corresponds to the kidneys and is associated with the tortoise, while the Li position corresponds to the heart and is associated with the Tengshe (a mythical snake).
When you practice Qi circulation, does the Qi originate from the lower dantian, travel upwards along the Du meridian, pass through the coccyx, the Mingmen point, and the kidneys, and then draw upon a point of true Yang from the kidneys at the Kan position before returning?
It gathers at the lower dantian, then ascends along the Ren meridian to the middle dantian (Shanzhong acupoint), completing the process of taking Kan and filling Li.
At this time, nectar will be produced and sent straight to the Niwan point, thus "revealing the sun in the deep pool".
Then, the sweet dew emerges from the Niwan point, passes through the Ren and Du meridians, and transforms into golden fluid and jade liquid at the Yinjiao and Chengjiang acupoints to nourish life.
This theory seems quite reasonable; just follow this route to circulate Qi.
However, Chen Chunan had interpreted the second chapter of Journey to the West many times in his previous life.
When Sun Wukong returned to Flower Fruit Mountain to eliminate the Demon King of Chaos.
The Journey to the West clearly states that the Demon King, who represents the Kan symbol, lives in the dirty cave of the North Kan source water, which is located some distance north!
Sun Wukong is Jin Gong, who is actually transformed from the yang energy of his heart and lungs. His dwelling place is the Water Curtain Cave of Flower and Fruit Mountain, which represents the image of separation.
According to the original text of Journey to the West: the acquired Kan Palace is the kidney, and the essence in the kidney is the acquired Yin turbid water.
Taking the Kan and filling the Li positions is definitely not about working on the kidneys!
If one tries to work on the kidneys, then the heart will be diverted to the kidneys, which will not only fail to benefit the kidneys but will also mislead the heart.
As a result, it is difficult to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and right and wrong.
Just like that troublemaker who originally lived in the Dirty Water Cave, who insisted on forcibly occupying the Water Curtain Cave.
The so-called "replenishing essence and nourishing the brain" is nothing but self-deception and a descent into delusion.
When Chen Chunan recounted this passage in his previous life, he was also somewhat confused, mainly because there were many different interpretations of those Taoist terms. To a layman, one interpretation might seem reasonable, but another might also seem reasonable, making it difficult to distinguish between them.
However, I still remember most of the original text.
Sun Wukong looked at the Demon King of Chaos, who was entirely black except for the bright, sharp blade of the knife in his hand.
Then he plucked out a hair that transformed into a group of small monkeys, which entangled him. He then snatched the large knife from the monkey's hand and cleaved it in two at the top of his head, thus winning the battle.
"So, this big sword is the key, but how do I find it?"
Chen Chunan pondered the problem but could not find a solution, his eyebrows furrowing in frustration.
Suddenly, two small hands reached out and forcibly smoothed her eyebrows.
At the same time, a crisp, mischievous laugh rang out.
Knowing that Hongxian was being mischievous again, Chen Chunan was both amused and exasperated.
"Have you finished your cultivation?"
"I've already finished my cultivation and I've been watching you for ages!"
Chen Hongxian couldn't help but puff out her cheeks.
This was usually the time her brother would play with her, but seeing him so engrossed in his thoughts, she didn't dare disturb him.
I did find it funny when my brother frowned, which is why I had the idea to tease him.
Chen Chunan wouldn't blame his sister for such a little playful thing, so he reached out and poked Hongxian's puffed-up cheek.
The red thread, which had been punctured and leaked air, burst into laughter.
"Let's continue telling you the story of Journey to the West today, brother. Where were we last time?"
"You mentioned that Sun Wukong rebelled against the Heavenly Court and returned to Flower Fruit Mountain to become the Great Sage Equal to Heaven."
"Oh, right, so when Sun Wukong learned that his position as the Keeper of the Heavenly Horses was actually a lowly and insignificant post, he was so angry that he stormed out of the Southern Heavenly Gate and returned all the way to Flower Fruit Mountain..."
