Chapter 321 The Fall of the Angel

Chapter 321 The Fall of the Angel

Outside the ruins of Europa, the dome of the cathedral has long since collapsed, and golden light and holy fire swirl among the clouds. In the distance, only broken towers and burnt-through ground remain of the streets.

The ground was littered with the remains of low-ranking angels, feathers, armor plates, and white crystals mixed in with the broken bricks, and foul blood flowed along the cracks in the stones toward the sacrificial pool below the sanctuary.

Yang Jian stood on the north side of the sacrificial pool, his three-pointed double-edged sword held horizontally in front of him, his vertical eye on his forehead closed, and the outer edge of his armor stained with angel blood and dust.

The twelve-winged angel hovered in mid-air, its six pairs of wings pressing down on the shadows cast by the crumbling walls, while the sacred fire hanging from the tips of its wings baked the street into a hardened glass surface.

A parasitic crystal is embedded in the crack in its chest. Each time the crystal pulsates, new holy light surges up in the sacrificial pool, and the rubble is pushed into the air and then falls back down.

Behind Yang Jian hung a light screen signaling for help from the European war zone. The expeditionary force's transport route bypassed the Olympic flame zone from high altitude, and some wounded soldiers were still unable to evacuate.

The twelve-winged angel lowered its head, and overlapping male and female voices came from its throat, causing the ruins of the sanctuary to groan.

"Yang Jian, the God of War of China, you are guarding a land that is decaying, why stand in front of a short-lived race?"

"Offer your authority to the Lord, and we will grant you a new heaven, a new rule, soldiers, and territory."

"Your divine position will be higher than Kunlun's, and the cries of mortals will no longer need to reach your ears."

Yang Jian did not answer. He thrust his sword forward half a foot, crushing the pebbles beneath his feet into powder with his combat boots.

The twelve-winged angel spread his arms, and the holy light in the sacrificial pool converged into a torrent, pressing down on Yang Jian from the end of the street, making the broken wall transparent in the light.

Where the light stream passed, steel bars melted, stone bricks crystallized, and even the filthy blood buried underground was drawn into luminous threads.

Yang Jian stepped into the torrent, his armor's protective patterns suppressing the sacred fire, the light streams parting from both sides, failing to touch any of the armor plates.

The twelve-winged angel's six eyes were fixed on him, the crystal pulsated faster, and the torrent expanded to cover the entire city block.

Yang Jian raised his arm, and the three-pointed double-edged sword flew out of his hand, its blade soaring into the sky and creating hundreds of sword shadows.

The blade pierced the torrent of holy light, biting into the energy supply lines. The entire light curtain stopped ten meters away from him, unable to move forward even an inch.

The twelve-winged angel raised its wings, attempting to drain the sacrificial pool, but the light patterns beneath the blade's shadow broke one after another, and the sacred fire surged back to its side.

Yang Jian pressed his left hand into the ground, and divine runes pierced through the cracked streets, drilling into the contaminated soil beneath the sacrificial pool.

A black dog sprang out from the shadows behind him, its body pressing down on the paving stones, and it opened its mouth to bite the silvery-white energy umbilical cord in the earth's veins.

The black dog pulled backward, tearing up a large layer of mud from the temple's foundation, severing the connection between the crystallized earth beneath the angel's feet and the crystal on his chest.

The twelve-winged angels raised their heads, their overlapping chorus turning into a sharp shriek, their twelve wings of light spreading outwards, and the sacred fire piercing through the clouds.

Dozens of lightsabers rose up behind him, their blades hanging from the clouds down to the street, each aimed at the edge of the sacrificial pool where Yang Jian was located.

"You low-dimensional gatekeeper, you can't even protect your own heavenly court."

As the lightsaber fell, Yang Jian recalled his longsword, its blade slashing upwards along the first lightsaber, shattering rows of glass walls in the ruins.

The second and third swords pressed down on his head, which Yang Jian blocked with his horizontal sword. His feet slid back several steps, and the edge of the sacrificial pool collapsed under their weight.

The lightsaber didn't stop; dozens of sword shadows fell from all directions, blocking his escape routes in all directions.

Yang Jian planted his longsword into the ground, the divine runes under his armor covering the back of the blade, and his third eye remained closed.

The twelve-winged angels sang loudly, and parasitic crystals extended fleshy tubes outward, attempting to transform the entire ruins of the sanctuary into a new altar.

"Kneel down, or become a sacrifice."

Yang Jian looked up, and a slit appeared in the vertical eye on his forehead.

There was no pillar of light, nor a massive Dharma image. The divine power emanating from the slits of his eyes swept across the sword formation, and dozens of light swords shattered into dust in the air.

The light pattern at the base of the angel's wings broke off, the twelve-winged angels stopped in mid-air, the chorus went off-beat, and the crystal's pulsation slowed down.

Yang Jian drew his longsword, the blade retracting into his wrist armor, while the giant axe rose from beneath the sacrificial pool and fell into his hand.

Yang Jian shattered the stone platform and soared into the clouds. His giant axe cleaved down from the angel's left wing, without any unnecessary moves.

The axe blade pierced through the first layer of wing bones and advanced along the wing root. Six wings of light fell from the sky and crashed through the ruins outside the sanctuary.

The chorus of the twelve-winged angels abruptly turned into screams, and large amounts of white parasitic crystals gushed from the wounds, continuing to crawl even after the crystals hit the ground.

Yang Jian took half a step forward, his giant axe pressing down on the angel's chest. The twelve-winged angel opened a portal of light, and the broken wing dragged its flesh and blood through it.

Yang Jian's raised foot stopped in front of the gate of light. Warning signs came from the depths of the sacrificial pool, and there was the sound of dense chains and the prayers of another group of angels inside the gate.

Silver pus oozed from the severed ley line joint bitten off by the black dog, and a new coordinate anchor was buried in the mud.

The stone slabs around the outer edge of the sacrificial pool flipped up, dozens of fine cracks slashed through the air, and doors of light opened at different heights.

Six-winged angels emerged from the gate in a procession, golden chains hanging from their wings, with barbed restraining rings at the ends.

They did not raise their swords or swoop down; instead, dozens of hands rose simultaneously, and the chorus of syllables pressed down on the entire ruins.

"Locking God".

Golden chains passed through the light gates, crisscrossing and encircling the sacrificial pool where Yang Jian was, the chain net closing inwards.

The black dog crashed into the western chain net, its teeth biting into the chain. Golden light flowed through its teeth into its body, and the dark shadow was forced back to Yang Jian's feet.

Yang Jian gripped the giant axe, closed his vertical eyes, and the inscriptions on the chains lit up one by one.

The leader of the six-winged angels landed atop the broken tower, a silver cross adorning his chest, with all the chains extending from the portal beneath his feet.

"The Lord has prepared a cage for you, Yang Jian. You will watch from here as China burns to ashes."

Yang Jian raised his giant axe, the back of which pressed against the first golden chain, but the chain split into more branches, wrapping around his arms and armor.

The transport aircraft, flying high above the Olympic flame area, cut in from the outer edge of the clouds, with more than ten rappelling cables lit up beneath their bellies.

The clouds on the west side lit up with a fiery hue, and a fiery wheel dragged a line of fire as it crashed into the chain net. The outermost chain links broke into pieces, which fell all over the sacrificial pool.

The fire-tipped spear pierced through the line of fire, penetrating the chest of the six-winged leader atop the broken tower, its shaft pinning him to the crumbling wall.

The leader looked down at the flames on his chest; the chains had lost control, and a gap had appeared in the chain net.

Nezha stood on his Wind and Fire Wheels, his Hun Tian Ling sweeping across the chains, pulling the six-winged angels that were near Yang Jian toward the sacrificial pool.

He raised his hand and pulled, the Fire-Tipped Spear returned to his palm, the six-winged angel on the broken tower was swallowed by flames, and the feathered bones fell into the pile of rubble.

"Yang Jian, you came to Europe to demolish the temple, but you didn't even give me the coordinates. All the mercenaries we hired in Kunlun are being chased by hordes of beasts."

Yang Jian pressed his axe against the chains and looked at Nezha.

"Is the area around Kunlun cleared out?"

"Several hundred have run away, but the beasts are chasing them. We'll have them repair the paving stones at the mountain gate later."

Nezha turned and swept his gaze across the six-winged formation, his Fire-Tipped Spear leaving streaks of fire in the air.

"Leave a few of these winged ones for me to practice with."

"Leave them alive," Yang Jian said.

"Fine, break their legs, as long as they can still chant sutras."

The aircraft passed through the broken chain net, the cabin doors slid open, and the Chinese Awakened Ones fell along the rappelling ropes, landing in a circle around the sacrificial pool.

The heavy armored team landed first, forming a circular defensive line with alloy shields. Behind them, archers set up magic-breaking crossbows, and gunners pinned coordinates to the edge of the portal.

"The Kunlun Field Operations Third Detachment is hereby ordered by the Dragon Guard to reinforce the ruins of Europa. We request that you two divine generals bring down those in the sky."
