Chapter 304 Calamity

Chapter 304 Calamity

Chapter 304 Calamity

On the northern front, Hagrid led his swarm of spiders and magical creatures down the high ground to reunite with the children. Ron and Maria were originally supposed to be pulled to the back, but they were determined to join the battle.

Hagrid had no choice, but fortunately, the children all carried wolfsbane medicine, so at least they didn't have to worry about being bitten.

But the current situation is that even the densely packed giant spiders don't outnumber these werewolves, not to mention the magical creatures and statues. Even if you include wizards, they wouldn't be enough for a single charge of an army of this size.

At the top of the castle, Hermione was already on high alert, her sapphire crystal clusters brimming with powerful energy, just waiting for the werewolves to come within range.

"We'd better retreat inside the barrier and fight them using the defenses!" Hagrid shouted to Lily.

But the potion master on the deer's back shook his head: "Make sure the animals are ready to engage the enemy."

"??" Hagrid was completely bewildered.

Given this situation, even if there aren't many werewolves rushing over yet, shouldn't we avoid a head-on confrontation?

But Lily simply had James lead her to the very front of the battlefield. The stag turned around and looked at her with a questioning expression.

Then a bottle of blood-replenishing medicine was stuffed into his mouth. He had lost a lot of blood before, and Lily had only hurriedly applied some white peony root to the wound.

Mr. Potter, who was henpecked, immediately turned around and drove his wife up.

He didn't ask any more questions. Lily's resurrection was already the greatest gift Merlin could give him. Now, of all things, his wife was the most important!

More and more Muggles have completed their werewolf transformation. The crazed werewolves charging towards this side have no organization or formation whatsoever. The ones who are progressing the fastest are at the forefront, while those who are progressing slowly are still at the back being whipped by the werewolf king's army.

They charged straight at the well-prepared spider army like a sharp, poisoned dagger.

No, it was a person and a deer rushing towards the spider army standing in front of them.

James was itching to transform back into human form and fight a desperate battle with his wife.

But Lily stopped her: "Get ready to run with me!"

She took a deep breath and opened the box she was holding tightly in her arms, facing the werewolves.

"What are those things?" Graybury looked at the two arrogant wizards blocking his army with a puzzled expression through his binoculars.

"Fine, whatever it is, it'll all be submerged by this tide!" He revealed a ferocious smile.

He had used this tactic in other parts of the continent as well; the werewolf curse was like a plague, spreading wherever there were people.

It can spread, and it can survive!

There are too many Muggles hiding in caves on the wasteland; the werewolves can catch them just by their scent.

Then take a bite, and you'll have the best soldiers, capable of attacking any tough nut to crack.

However, the date must be chosen carefully, not near the full moon's expiration date, otherwise the bitten Muggle will go berserk prematurely, running around like a frightened rabbit.

Now, the same applies to dealing with wizards' castles: use these cheap cannon fodder to deplete their magic and defenses, and use their flesh and blood to smash through the barriers!

Then, a castle full of fresh and delicious wizard children were at his disposal!

Standing in front of the charging werewolves, Lily took a deep breath and opened the box in her arms.

In an instant, thick, viscous black smoke gushed out like a burst dam.

"Run! James! Run!" Lily yelled.

She held the box high in both hands, not daring to let anything touch herself or her husband.

She extracted the pollution of an entire Black Lake ecosystem using occult methods.

She hadn't told anyone beforehand, and no one else had thought much about where the pollutants released from the purification ritual went.

Because the pollutants are usually too small to be seen with the naked eye when used for purifying a single pot, the pollution accumulated in an area like Black Lake, which is so persistent and severe, can amount to a considerable quantity.

In the eyes of the Potions Master, contamination is just potions in the wrong place. Although she hasn't studied it yet, Lily believes that this contamination must have some other use. If the purification ritual is allowed to run on its own and disperse, it might contaminate other places. It's better to collect and preserve it for research.

However, for now, this box of contamination is just right for dealing with these swarming beasts.

James suddenly took off running across the battlefield, while Lily held the box high, and a stream of black mist spread out behind them, forming a long, wide, black line of contamination that stretched across the middle of the battlefield.

Those berserk Muggle werewolves knew no fear and charged into the contaminated zone without flinching or avoiding it.

The next moment, under everyone's watchful eyes, these werewolves who had inhaled the pollution of the Black Lake collapsed to the ground in agony once again, their bodies beginning to undergo a second mutation!

Fine fish scales began to slowly grow from under the wolf fur. Some werewolves suddenly split open their mouths with two cheeks, while others experienced atrophy of their limbs, with their toes and claws coming together and softening into squid tentacles!

Their eyes bulged more and more, and the dry air on the ground became increasingly difficult to breathe.

This pollution from aquatic organisms seems to be rapidly transforming them into a terrifying creature that resembles both a wolf and a fish.

"What terrifying magic is this!" Not only Hagrid, but even James, who was running, couldn't help but gasp when he saw it.

As a master of shapeshifting, he naturally understood how difficult it was to forcibly change a magical creature born of a curse. Even shapeshifting masters could usually only maintain the shapeshifting of other creatures for a short time.

But the box that Lily opened seems to have completely reversed the werewolf's physical form from a biological perspective. If a Muggle scientist were to extract their genes now, he would probably be terrified.

The genes of mammals are mixed with those of fish, reptiles, and amphibians, while chordates have characteristics of mollusks. All the biological foundations that Muggles have painstakingly built up will be overturned.

All of this was simply because of inhaling a type of smoke extracted from a black lake!

"The pollution in the water comes from nuclear radiation," Lily explained hastily, clinging to James's back. "The other part is a curse born from environmental destruction affecting aquatic life. These two things, combined with magic, have fused together, producing unknown changes!"

Lily is like Pandora in mythology, who opened the box and unleashed endless calamities, filling the world with pain and sorrow.

The fate of the vanguard werewolves did not frighten the werewolves behind them. They continued to charge wildly towards the black mist, only to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and fall among it, beginning a tragic transformation.

"Don't let your guard down!" Lily shouted to Hagrid and the others again.

"They can still get up, be careful to drive them away!"

The only difference from before was that the pollution from the Black Lake diluted the wolfsbane curse they had just acquired. They were sad and in pain, and they were in agony and madness, but they no longer craved human blood as much, and naturally they would no longer rush desperately toward the castle.

As long as Hagrid and his spider swarm inflict significant damage on them, these bizarre "fish-werewolfs" will flee in any direction, thus disrupting the wolf king's army behind them.

"Damn it!" Graybury slammed his hand on the chariot.

"Quickly, pull back those who haven't rushed forward yet!" he shouted.

"How come there are so many strange things associated with those wizards!"

"Stop sending those idiots up there to die! Find a way to disperse that black smoke!"

The main battlefield seemed to be under control, which relieved Hermione and allowed her to turn her attention to other things.
