Chapter 438 Respect for New Students

Chapter 438 Respect for New Students

For the next two weeks, until the start of the new school year at Hogwarts, Hermione stayed at New Hogsmeade.

The Dark Lord wisely refrained from urging Hermione to return early, since if she went back now, she would have to come back again in September when school started, which would only cause unnecessary trouble.

Krum stayed in the city for half a month, but didn't have a chance to see Hermione until even his teammates couldn't help but urge him to return. Only then did he reluctantly look at the villa complex by the Black Lake and reluctantly enter the fireplace.

This period was the most relaxed and happy time Hermione had had in a long time. Most things in the city were handled by others, and all she had to do each day was visit her friends' houses, enjoy Lily's apple pie, Molly Celestial's white meat sandwich, or Mrs. Longbottom's secret butterbeer, just like a carefree fourth-year student.

"Yes, it feels like just yesterday we were in fourth grade," she said to Harry.

Everyone has changed quite a bit. In just a few months, they have all become more like adults in terms of both height and appearance.

The boys' minds became increasingly restless during puberty, but they dared not show it in front of Hermione.

This year's freshman recruitment process has become much simpler. Without the Green Flame Party and Voldemort, the whole world is much quieter and more peaceful.

While most parts of the world were still struggling with cold and hunger, the various wizarding communities were showing signs of prosperity. The new Hogsmeade had perfectly replaced the role of Malfoy Castle, and with the deeper cooperation between Beauxbatons and various forces, the supply of various goods and necessities was greater and the prices were cheaper than ever before.

This indirectly led to the birth of more newborns, and it is foreseeable that Hogwarts' student body will be even more substantial in the future.

Leaving aside the future, just this year alone, the complete acceptance document and admission guide were produced by working overtime like madmen, spitting out hundreds of names.

"I haven't seen anything this crazy in fifty years!" Professor McGonagall, the principal, exclaimed incredulously.

Of course, this is partly thanks to the giant oak tree that Hermione sculpted and grew to prominence half a month ago. Under its light, more than a dozen magical riots broke out one after another among the school-age children in the new Hogsmeade. Some children who were originally considered Squibs awakened their magical talents one after another at the last moment before they were about to miss their chance to enroll.

Even some children born into purely Muggle families suddenly awakened magical powers.

Hermione only mentioned it briefly, and it was probably thanks to the giant oak tree that countless parents came to the island in the middle of the lake with offerings to pray to Dumbledore and the giant oak tree.

"Perhaps this is a sign of the world being re-evolved," Hilmi analyzed, his perspective more detached.

"The New Oak and the Great Rune are an opportunity, but for now it's just a city."

"But as civilization is gradually rebuilt and the world slowly recovers, perhaps one day, under the combined light of the brilliance stone and the light of new life,

Humanity throughout the world will become a new race, born with magical abilities.

Not only humans, but also Newt's magical animal breeding center, Professor Sprout's herb garden, and the agricultural areas outside the city have reached their peak of reproduction and production in the past few months. Many magically infertile plants and animals have also successfully conceived in the past ten days.

"This world will gradually transform into a magical paradise during the reconstruction process."

Compared to Professor McGonagall's joy, wand maker Mikhail was panicked. He had previously estimated that there would be at most a few dozen students a year, and that he could make enough wands by himself. But with the current number of students enrolled, his stock was running low, and suitable magical wood was scarce and precious.

Moreover, the prohibition against indiscriminate mining in the protected forest caused him some anxiety.

"Why not try taking a branch that fell from a giant oak tree?" Hilmi suggested.

The giant tree would occasionally shed some thin branches. Because of the newly formed runes, even after separating from the main body, they could retain their green leaves for a long time, possessing vigorous vitality and strong magical affinity, making them excellent wand materials.

The children who enroll this year will all thrive under Dumbledore's legacy.

The week before the start of the semester ended in a busy but peaceful process, with the new students being safely picked up by the professors and taken to New Hogsmeade, this great and glorious city.

Incidentally, to cope with the growing student population, Professor McGonagall has publicly recruited numerous professors and teaching assistants for each course.

This is to alleviate the original teaching burden on professors.

Hermione got the job that originally belonged to Professor McGonagall and, as the vice-principal, greeted the new students at the opening banquet.

Just like the tradition from fifty years ago, they traveled in small boats for four people each, across the Black Lake, past the island in the middle of the lake and the glowing giant oak trees, slowly passing under the magnificent World Cup stadium, then boarding the boathouse, climbing the steps to the high ground, and entering the temple of magic.

Looking at the older sister, who was only a few years older than them, she sternly yet kindly made them line up in a long queue and enter the auditorium in an orderly manner.

Then came the dirty, worn-out hat, the strange Sorting Ceremony, and the quirky school song.

Hermione and Hilmi sat on either side of McGonagall. There were more professors in the faculty section. The Great Hall was brightly lit, and the senior students were sharing their experiences of life at the school with the new students.

It was originally headmistress McGonagall's turn to give a speech, but she gave the opportunity to Hermione.

The Finger Witch stood up, wearing a shawl draped with gold and red feathers, over which she wore a school uniform robe like the students. She leaned on a magnificent silver staff, the tip of which bore a mysterious and dangerous black celestial orb of light.

He walked slowly to the podium and beckoned a glass of low-alcohol beverage made from glowing mushrooms.

"Welcome to Hogwarts—or, as the Daily Diviner called it decades ago, 'the last shining lie in the wasteland.'"

Scattered laughter echoed in the auditorium as Pippi and the ghosts roamed under the starry sky.

"It's a new year again, and Hogwarts and all of us have entered a new phase."

"An ancient and prestigious school with a history spanning thousands of years, and the Black Lake, which had been dormant for fifty years, have been revitalized. A pearl, a future, a new star are slowly rising in the Scottish Highlands."

She looked around at all the students, at each of their youthful faces: "In the past, such an opening speech should have been given by a respected elder."

"But a few months ago, we gave him a solemn funeral."

"Every brick soaked in the blood of our ancestors, every soul sleeping on this land—they shaped everything we have today."

That luminous lie has become reality.

Hermione took a deep breath: "Let's not say any more. Let's cherish what we have now and make it better!"

She raised her glass: "To our ancestors! To the radiant new life! To all that is yet to be born, to those that have died, and to all that is sprouting!"
