Chapter 490 The Flame of Skill

Chapter 490 The Flame of Skill

Chapter 490 The Flame of Skill

"We lost the first game." The biting cold wind swept across Krum's face.

His eyes remained calm behind his goggles; compared to the brutal battle of Volgograd, everything before him was insignificant.

When Harry snatched the second dragon, he knew he couldn't win. Now, his priority was to prevent the score gap from widening further.

The scorching roar of the dragon grew closer behind him, and the Black Death occasionally spewed out flames, forcing him to change his flight path.

He and his custom-made nuclear crossbows traced a graceful curve, bypassing the dragon's breath while retaliating with even more curses.

"Krum's flying technique is quite beautiful! As we all know, he was the Seeker who won the first Quidditch World Cup!"

"But the Black Reaper's magic resistance is just too high; most spells seem to have no effect on him! This has put our Viktor in a stalemate!"

The commentators should try to get the atmosphere lively during the match.

"A beautiful eye-cursing spell! But it doesn't seem to be working much—"

"I'd give that sudden stop and fall a perfect score! He demonstrated this technique in the World Cup finals, which requires extremely high performance from both the wizard and the broom. There are probably no more than five people in the world who can do it!"

From an entertainment standpoint, Krum did indeed play beautifully. In the aerial battle, he kept Black Reaper at bay, preventing him from reaching top speed and launching any decent attacks. It looked like he was just walking a dog.

Without Harry—his performance was truly brilliant.

"Oh, they're flying a bit too low. Where's the dragon trainer? Should we guide the Black Reaper upwards?"

As he said this, Krum was forced by the supersonic fire dragon to descend slightly towards the flying stands, which made many spectators somewhat worried.

The two, one man and one dragon, were practically flying around the flying sailboats, and they could easily crash into them if they weren't careful. They didn't want to risk their lives just to watch the game.

But Grindelwald seemed oblivious to this. Right now, only Krum was left to fight, and all eyes were on him. If he rashly sent someone to intervene in the fight, even if he won, he would be accused of favoring his own player and fall into the trap of self-justification that the new Paris Saint-Germain was biased towards their own player.

The sonic boom and strong winds brought by the Black Death caused the stands to sway violently, and people screamed and grabbed the handrails next to them, trying to keep their balance.

Taking advantage of the complex flight environment, Krum circled behind the black dragon, straightened his body with his broom between his legs, and began a long, deep spellcasting incantation.

"Is Krum about to unleash some powerful magic?!"

"He knows that ordinary spells can't penetrate that dragon skin, so he plans to create an opportunity to use more powerful dark magic?"

But what means could he possibly have that were more violent than Harry's?

The Black Death was not fooled for long; it immediately realized from the audience's gaze that its target was right behind it.

Normally, it would want to kill every single one of these wailing humans, but right now, Krum's hatred is its highest priority.

With an elegant flap of its wings, it flipped upside down and, even while hanging upside down, instantly locked onto the boy who was chanting a spell.

Using the acceleration from its dive, the fire dragon snapped at Krum, who was suspended in mid-air.

But his magic was already fully prepared!

This is not a powerful and destructive spell that requires a lengthy casting time, but it is certainly cumbersome.

The nuclear crossbow bolt seemed to suddenly lose lift, causing Krum to plummet uncontrollably, which just happened to avoid the Black Death's bite.

At the same time, a cloud of black mist suddenly exploded from its face, completely obscuring its vision.

After completing the magic, the sturdy Slavic boy immediately grabbed the broom handle, pulled himself up, and returned to the back of the Black Death.

"Is this... a blindness curse?" the commentator asked, somewhat uncertainly.

After the fire dragon in the sky exploded in the black mist, it suddenly went blind. Its powerful magic resistance seemed to have failed, and it could not dispel the darkness in front of it.

"Confirmed! Durmstrang has sent the data! This is an ancient version of the Eye Curse, more complicated to cast, more powerful, and without the projectile-like blindness curse!"

"To deal with a fire dragon, you should use the Eye Strike Curse! But to deal with the Black Death, using a more powerful ancient curse is the wise choice!"

"The numerous curses stacked up by Krum Warrior in the early game finally served their purpose, allowing the Blindness Curse to successfully penetrate the Magic Resistance Skin and take effect quickly!"

Suddenly losing sight of it, the Black Death flew around in panic, spewing flames haphazardly. Several times it burned the surrounding stands, but fortunately, the wizards of the Sorcery Party and the dragon trainers were on guard and managed to block it.

Now the situation has completely reversed, and Krum can do whatever he wants to the black dragon.

However, what methods he will use to break through the defenses and inflict a fatal wound depends on his next move.

Seeing the Black Death flying around the stands like a blind man, causing chaos among the wizards and the dragon tamer constantly cleaning up the mess, Grindelwald couldn't stand it anymore.

"Stop playing around, let's finish this quickly," he ordered calmly, his voice reaching Krum's ears directly.

The latter nodded imperceptibly, launched a firework that exploded near the fire dragon's ear, startling it. But the dragon immediately recognized the direction and roared as it charged toward him.

The boy continued making noise, carrying the Black Death back into the sky.

As the sun began to set and the clouds grew darker, he executed a beautiful tail-spining maneuver, narrowly missing the Black Death's barbed back.

The fire dragon, though its vision was obscured, was not without a fighting chance. It focused all its attention on its hearing, and upon hearing the sound of the broom rushing past, it immediately turned around and gave chase.

Krum suddenly made a bold move.

He jumped off the broom, letting the nuclear crossbow bolts fly past his feet.

The sound of the broom shot attracted the attention of the fire dragon, which followed the direction of the broom, leaving Krum, who was in mid-air, gradually falling.

"Oh my god! What is he going to do?!"

Despite the narrator's loud shouts, the boy did not panic as he fell. Instead, he locked his gaze on the Black Death in mid-air and began casting the spell again.

This time, he's going to kill it completely!

"Burn your own fire!"

The spell, imbued with most of its magic, struck precisely on the back of the Black Death, who was blindly chasing the broom.

The next moment, the dragon's skin, which had become fragile under the corrosive influence of countless evil curses, suddenly burst open from the inside.

Large amounts of black flames surged forth from the fire dragon's seven orifices.

A horrific wail instantly resounded through the sky, like a smoldering torch, wildly dancing in the air and scattering terrifying black flames.

Krum vanished from the sky with a snap, reappearing on the nuclear crossbow bolt that was about to fall after losing control.

He scooped up the broom and returned to his flight posture.

"Show-off! This is blatant show-off!" The commentator went from panic to excitement in an instant.

He praised it loudly.

"The warriors of Durmstrang have displayed their finest Fiend Magic! With a multitude of curses piled up, the hellfire erupted from within, utterly sealing the Black Death's fate!"

"He could have ended the match much more easily and efficiently! But Viktor chose the most dangerous and flashy technique!"

"Apparition during the fall! And the target landing point is a high-speed flying broom!"

"My God! You know, for a normal 7th grader, being able to reliably teleport without separating is already something to be proud of!"

A roar of cheers and shouts erupted from the stands, and as the last fire dragon gracefully fell to the ground, the first stage of the Goblet of Fire officially came to an end.
