Chapter 80: A Review of the Gains
Chapter 80: A Review of the Gains
Chapter 80: Taking Stock of the Gains (Sixth update since release)
"I have to go in!" James Potter looked at the wizard blocking his way.
"Your Anti-Apparition Charm did affect that little elf, and the Apparition Charm also shows that Hermione is in this direction and not far away! You know, I'm very good at this!" He looked toward the center of the fog-shrouded valley.
"But the radiation there is too high! You'll die if you go in!" a wizard exclaimed. "Perhaps we can ask Dumbledore for help."
"But Hermione is also exposed to radiation! And she still has to deal with that vicious house-elf!"
"That child is much more resistant to radiation than we are, and that little elf doesn't seem to be a match for her, James—" Another wizard was about to say something when Mr. Potter interrupted him.
"What if they're cut in half? Maybe she's bleeding right now!" he roared. "She's just a child!"
I can't leave her at the epicenter of the nuclear explosion and run back to find help myself!
Harry stood to the side, his eyes filled with worry.
"But if you go in now, you'll just be another person dying!" another wizard roared. "Even if you're strong, Lily's potion can only keep you alive! You'll spend the rest of your life as a lump of rotting flesh, paralyzed in bed, oozing pus!"
Even the strongest adult wizards, after being deeply damaged by high-intensity radiation, can only maintain their survivability to a certain extent. Even the most powerful potions can only continuously repair the vitality of their bodies, but cannot cure this radiation damage. It is unknown whether this is due to the curse of the fairies or some kind of theoretical barrier.
James paused for a moment, then turned to his son: "I promised Lily that you would take Harry back, and I'll go find Hermione."
'
"Dad!" Harry looked at his father, unsure of what to say. He wanted to persuade his father not to go, but he also wanted his father to go and save Hermione.
Just then, a gust of wind, seemingly from nowhere, stirred up the ever-present fog.
"What happened?!"
They looked around in surprise, only to see that the thick fog that had enveloped the entire valley had begun to slowly rotate, spinning faster and faster with the wind, until it finally became a huge fog vortex, rapidly converging towards a certain place in the center of the valley.
"Can you feel it? The radiation seems to be decreasing!" another wizard exclaimed.
The others also noticed the change; the pressure of maintaining the Radiant Stone magic was gradually decreasing, as if the originally dense radiation had been absorbed into the mist.
"Is there something over there?"
At the center of the mist vortex, in the heart of the valley, is also the direction Hermione is pointing towards, according to the tracking charm.
"It seems Merlin is on my side," James muttered to himself.
If the radiation continues to decrease, he can enter the center of the village ruins relatively safely.
"Could it be Hermione's doing?" Harry exclaimed excitedly. In his mind, all the outrageous things could be the work of the powerful Queen of Gryphon.
"How is that possible? Such a large-scale radiation flow, if a wizard were manipulating it, would it be directly incinerated?" a male wizard retorted without thinking.
Their observation did not last long. The vortex of radiation mist rapidly gathered the energy in the valley, shrinking smaller and smaller until it disappeared completely.
The visibility in the entire valley suddenly improved. Although the sky was still hazy, it was much brighter than before, and with the thick fog gone, the village ruins in the distance were faintly visible. Although it was just a white expanse, only a thin layer of fog stubbornly floated in front of us.
The radiation was still present, and while it was still high compared to the level at which Muggles could barely survive, it was almost harmless to the pioneers who had mastered the magic of the sapphire.
James closed his eyes and sensed the radiation level. Further ahead, the radiation would be higher, but still within a tolerable range. With Lily's anti-radiation potion, there shouldn't be a problem.
He turned to her and said, "You guys stay here and continue taking inventory of the supplies in the cellar. I'm going to find Hermione."
This time, the pioneers no longer tried to stop them; the danger had been greatly reduced, and rescuing people became an option.
In their hearts, however, the poor girl had fallen into the center of the thick fog vortex and had probably perished along with the elf. Their tacit approval of James's actions was merely to offer the wizard some comfort.
Just as James deftly took out various potions and applied them all over his body, preparing to venture deeper into the village, a series of footsteps broke the silence of the valley.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked straight ahead.
In the light mist, a small figure slowly walked towards them, holding a staff that shimmered with blue light.
Beside her, an even smaller blue dot of light was jumping excitedly.
"So, you and that little sprite fell into the Wright family's cellar during the battle and discovered Jimmy Wright's ghost!" Ron asked excitedly, "And then? And then?!"
The pioneers have returned to Cliff Street, and the people who stayed behind have begun to get busy.
The supplies in Bob's cellar, as well as some of the supplies Hermione brought back from Wright's cellar, need to be confirmed to be safe in terms of radiation concentration before they can be used, since there are many Muggles and children on Cliff Street who are not immune to radiation.
Hermione's attack and near kidnapping enraged Lily, who grabbed James by the ear and unleashed a torrent of abuse.
She checked Hermione carefully to make sure she was perfectly safe.
Fortunately, everything turned out alright. In fact, thanks to Hermione's soul-binding ritual, the radiation concentration in Godric's Hollow dropped significantly, making it easier for the pioneers to explore deeper into the epicenter of the nuclear explosion.
Because of the size of Hermione's magic pocket, the supplies that she didn't bring back could be carried by them.
As for the score, this Golden Snitch ghost, with the help of powerful energy, not only formed a contract with Hermione, but also underwent a certain degree of enhancement. Its spirit body was filled with rich sapphire energy, turning it into a little helper with considerable combat power, capable of using sapphire energy for attack and defense.
As for its original form, the world's first Golden Snitch, Hermione used it as an energy core, absorbing a massive amount of radiation energy from the valley to become an external energy source. Although it couldn't compare to the Shining Stone at Hogwarts, Godric's Hollow had been around for so many years, but it could still help her absorb the energy required to unleash Shining Stone magic. Even in the outside world where the average radiation was low, it could easily maintain the same level of power as when she fought Dobby.
As for Dobby, upon hearing the name, Jaime immediately understood his connection to the Malfoys and stormed into the fireplace to cause trouble.
Before Lucius fell from power, Dobby was a very important assistant to him. He even managed the Malfoy family's Galleons in Gringotts, essentially holding the position of treasurer.
According to the final judgment given by Malfoyburg, Dobby should have been confiscated as part of the property and made a member of the Malfoyburg Public Service Elf, but clearly, someone had tampered with the process.
Finally, there was the pioneers' harvest from the cellar.
Aside from the Wright family's sophisticated wizarding instruments, alchemy books, some expired potions, and dried magical materials that Hermione brought back.
In Bob's cellar, the pioneers found two brand-new wands, the standard pre-war model. The wood and core were not particularly outstanding, but they were versatile and were probably spares that Bob had prepared for his family.
In today's terms, it would be considered an excellent antique weapon. Whether you leave it in Cliff Street for future wizards or sell it in Malfoy Castle, it would be a good choice.
Some furniture, farm tools, and seeds, but it's unknown whether these seeds have mutated or can still be grown.
A large old book, though the paper is very fragile, can still be opened and copied after being strengthened with magic. It was a textbook used by Little Bob and can be used to enrich the classes in Cliff Street. It could also have been sold as an antique.
There's also an old cauldron, two flying brooms, and a flying carpet that's almost lost its magic but might still be usable after some repairs.
The most valuable finds were two large, perfectly sealed barrels of liquor that hadn't evaporated! Heaven knows how much Bob loved them; the layers of magic on these two barrels ensured that they hadn't spoiled even decades later.
These two large barrels of wine, whose varieties cannot yet be identified, will undoubtedly become coveted items among the nobles once they are taken to Malfoy Castle. They will fight tooth and nail for everything before the war, especially for something like this that is used for enjoyment and to demonstrate one's status.
These are just the cellars of two families. If the entire valley were explored, the harvest would be enough for everyone in Cliff Street to live comfortably.
