Chapter 92 Left-behind Children

Chapter 92 Left-behind Children

Hermione was eventually dragged back to Cliff by Lily, along with Sirius and Lupin. They would stay at the Potters' house tonight, enjoy a delicious pre-battle dinner, and then meet at Hogwarts the next morning before flying off to various destinations.

Having lost her chance to fight, Hermione could only vent her anger on food. James specially roasted two large roosters he bought from Malfoy Castle. These chickens, which had lived in a magically constructed ecosystem since they were young, were plump and strong. Of course, they were also very expensive, since raising these natural pre-war meat animals required many wizards to maintain the ecological magic day and night.

Two chickens were certainly not enough for so many adults and children. Four chicken legs went into the stomachs of four children, while the adults enjoyed the rest.

At the dinner table, the adults chatted and laughed, Hermione ate her food in silence, while the other three children seemed a little absent-minded. Their parents were all members of the Order of the Phoenix. Although Mrs. Molly would not participate in the battle, Mr. Arthur and Bill were on the list, and Potter and Longbottom were even fighting together.

Mom and Dad are going to the battlefield starting tomorrow. Although the children have all gone through this since they were little, it doesn't mean they can be so carefree as to treat this as a game.

Every year around this time, my parents always come back covered in injuries, and we sometimes even hear news of the sacrifice of an uncle or aunt who had visited our home. Even the children can sense the cruelty behind this.

But they are sensible and don't say anything. They just try to be obedient during this time so that their parents have less trouble and less to worry about.

The night passed quickly, and the whole family got up early the next morning without prior arrangement.

After James and the others finished packing, they saw four children standing at the door, looking at them.

"If you guys were this obedient every day, I'd rather go out and kill a couple more Death Eaters," Lily said irritably. Getting a few boys out of bed every morning during the holidays was a real headache.

The four children followed the adults reluctantly all the way to the fireplace.

Lily, still worried, instructed, "These next few days at Aunt's, you can't use magic to bully your cousin, you can't play pranks, you have to eat whatever Aunt makes, and you can't be picky about food!"

"Also, in the workshop at home, only the first open cabinet is reserved for you. It contains your assigned homework and potion ingredients. I'll check it when I get back. Don't touch the other cabinets. Even Hermione can't break the curses on them! Don't even think about asking her for help! The same goes for the homework! I know your level!"

After rambling on and on, the four adults finally crawled into the fireplace and left.

The remaining four children looked at each other.

"Should we go back and do our homework now?"

"Should we go to my aunt's house and listen to her rambling?"

"I'd rather do my homework!"

Under normal circumstances, without adult supervision, the three Gryffindor boys would have already let loose. Perhaps if Harry suggested it, Ron hesitated, and Neville nodded, the three of them would have tried to sneak out of Cliff Street and wander into the valley.

But today, they weren't in high spirits and went back to their own potions workshop with Hermione.

The homework Lily assigned was a test of the intensive training during the summer vacation. Every professor has this part, which is used to give their students something to do at this time of year.

Ron and Neville's task is to brew qualified anti-radiation potion and white essence. If they can successfully make the euphoric potion, they will receive an extra reward.

Harry's assignment was to brew the Joy and Vitality Potion solo, with the bonus task being to brew Bone Regenerating Elixir. Lily originally wanted him to try learning Polyjuice Potion as well, but Harry struggled to even remember all the steps in the first step, so she had to settle for second best.

As for Hermione, since she had perfectly finished brewing Polyjuice Potion at the end of the holidays, Lily didn't actually assign her any new homework. Instead, she asked her to supervise the three boys and prevent them from cheating.

However, Hermione had her own thoughts. She realized that products like Sparkling Incense were not very effective against powerful wizards, and that Professor McGonagall's words were more of a comforting remark to avoid upsetting her.

It was more valuable to use a versatile perfumer like an inducing spray, which meant that she couldn't offer Lily and her friends any help when they were about to get into danger.

I happen to have some free time these days, so I can calm down and try to recreate some of the other perfumes from the border region.

Among them, the ones she favored most were the invigorating incense and the iron kettle incense.

Among them, the Invigorating Incense can not only enhance the user's strength, but also form a shield to withstand one instance of damage. In this world, it is equivalent to enhancing magic power while forming a layer of Iron Armor Spell on the body, providing an extra layer of protection.

The iron kettle incense can transform the entire body into a movable iron block, greatly enhancing resistance to blows and also providing a certain boost to willpower, making one's mind as tenacious as steel.

Although Hermione estimated that even with the Iron Pot Elixir, she wouldn't be able to withstand the Death Curse, it could greatly weaken the effects of the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse. It could probably provide direct immunity to common knockout and disarming curses, and it would also have strong resistance to Polymorph, making it highly practical.

However, neither of these two spices is easy to prepare. What's even more difficult is that their core ingredients cannot be replaced in this world for the time being.

Invigorating Incense requires empty shells of Silver Teardrops. This alchemical product, unique to the underground Eternal City, is itself a byproduct of extremely high alchemical achievements. The Eternal City is believed to have created life through alchemy. This liquid metal exists in a state between life and death, yet it truly possesses life and even a soul. Even the Full Moon Queen, who controls the creation of Great Runes, needs to consume the core embryo of this Teardrop when helping the Faded Ones to be reborn.

Iron Kettle Fragrance, a fragrance developed by a fallen perfumer, requires fragments of living kettles. These ceramic kettles, created by the Golden Dynasty, are very mysterious. It is said that they originally existed to hold the bodies of those souls returning to the tree. Fragrance made from their body fragments has the effect of transforming organic life into living inorganic matter.

The village of Hucun, which the Faded Ones once passed through, was also brutally slaughtered because of the precious medicinal value of the living pots.

These two types of artificial life do not exist in this world, and Hermione hopes to find similar materials as substitutes, even if the effect is weaker.

The cupboard Lily opened to the four boys only contained some basic materials, but that didn't stop Hermione from trying out their properties one by one. This process required trial and error again and again, and there was no room for laziness. Fortunately, there wasn't much to do these past few days, so she could just keep an eye on the three boys while she worked on it.
