Chapter 95 Marauder's Map

Chapter 95 Marauder's Map

Finally, the lights went out. Not wanting to take it out in public in the common room, Harry insisted on waiting until most people were asleep before pulling the four of them into his bedroom, closing the door, and properly examining the gift.

Hermione had to use invisibility to sneak into the boys' dormitory, thankfully it didn't have any spells to keep boys away like the girls' dormitory.

However, it's still a bit awkward to encounter a little boy who gets up to pee in the middle of the night.

Under the expectant gazes of the three, Harry unwrapped the paper, revealing a stack of white papers cleverly folded together.

"What is this? A blank sheet of paper?" Ron was full of questions.

"You weren't tricked by your dad, were you?"

"Look here, this should be a message from your father." Hermione noticed a note with writing on it tucked inside.

"I solemnly swear that I have not done anything good?" Harry read the words aloud, puzzled.

"Why don't you try tapping the white paper with your wand?"

But Harry's steel chains were too heavy, and he was afraid of tearing the paper, so he tapped them lightly with his finger instead: "I solemnly swear I did nothing wrong!"

The next second, black ink spread from his fingertips, outlining lines, and soon a Hogwarts map appeared on the paper, with densely packed names appearing in various positions.

There were also some names moving in the corridor; they were the professors on night patrol.

A line of text appeared at the top of the map: "Moonface, Bigfoot, and Forkhead, the raiders greet you. The Marauder's Map is our masterpiece, and now it should be inherited by a new generation of raiders."

"Use it wisely, and don't let the name of a plunderer be tarnished."

Then, the writing disappeared.

The four of them looked up, their eyes filled with surprise and excitement.

"The Raiders! I know, that's what Dad and Godfather were called when they were students!" Harry exclaimed excitedly.

“I know! Lupin is a werewolf, which means he has a moon face. Sirius’s Animagus is a big dog, so he has big feet. Your father’s Animagus is a deer, so he has a fork!” Ron chimed in.

"There should be another name, right? It seems to have been crossed out?" Neville asked.

"It's Wormtail, Peter Pettigrew. His Animagus is a flying squirrel, and he was expelled by James and the others because of his betrayal," Hermione said, remembering Harry mentioning the name.

However, everyone was excited at the moment, and no one cared about this little bit of awkwardness.

"So, Uncle James gave you the Marauder's Map so that we would become the new generation of raiders!" Ron's eyes lit up with excitement as he stood up and paced around the dormitory.

"This is so cool! With this map, we'll never get caught while we're out at night again!" Harry's adventurous spirit was stirring again.

"So many secret passages! Good heavens, our first-year night excursion was like goblins rolling around in the mud! We didn't find anything!"

It can only be said that James and Lily have very different ways of educating children. For James, if the children have not gone on nighttime adventures at Hogwarts, they probably can't be considered to have truly attended school there.

"I know that. It's the secret passage behind the mirror on the fourth floor. George and Weasley went through it!"

"Now, we know more than they do!" Ron laughed loudly.

"But all of this was discovered by the previous generation of raiders; we're just benefiting from their work!" Neville said earnestly.

"You're right! Dad and the others spent seven years exploring the school to this extent and even created such an amazing magical artifact as the Marauder's Map. We're going to be even stronger than them in the future!" Harry pumped his fist, brimming with confidence.

"But they are all Animagus," Ron said hesitantly.

"Besides Lupin, the other three are all very skilled at shapeshifting, and they're not afraid of getting caught while they're out at night. Even if we have invisibility cloaks, we won't be able to fit four of us when we grow up a bit."

"Their shapeshifting abilities weren't innate! Can't you learn them?!" Hermione sighed in exasperation.

Harry slapped his thigh: "That's right! They learned Animagus specifically to take care of Uncle Lupin. Even that traitor Wormtail couldn't learn it before, and he only mastered it with Dad and the others' help!"

He then looked at Hermione with anticipation: "Hermione, will you teach us Animagus?"

Hermione's forehead twitched with anger. She was just progressing faster, but it would be a long time before she could learn Animagus. Even if she went to Professor McGonagall now, the professor would not agree for safety reasons.

"I think you'll learn faster from your dad and Sirius; they won't hesitate to teach you."

"Once you've learned it, you can teach us too."

Harry hesitated for a moment: "But the next time I see them won't be until the Christmas holidays."

"What's the rush? You're only a second-year student. I doubt they all mastered Animagus by their second year!"

"What you should do now is learn Transfiguration first, so that when Uncle James teaches you, you won't even be able to understand the basics."

Hermione's gaze was still sweeping across the map. This magical item was of a very high level. Even without considering the value of Nightwalking, it represented an extremely high level of Tracking Charm and Manifestation Charm. Moreover, the magic on it had not faded even after more than ten years, which showed that the four of them were already very powerful during their student days.

"Look here." Hermione suddenly noticed a red dot marked the eighth floor on the map.

"The Room of Requirement!" Harry read the name under the ink dot.

"I know that name! Sirius mentioned it!" Harry exclaimed excitedly. "Because Lupin transforms every full moon, Dumbledore arranged for him to go there to prevent him from hurting the other students!"

"And Dad and the others learned Animagus so they could keep Lupin company!"

"In other words, that's the raiders' stronghold!"

"In other words, that will be our base from now on!"

Children's fascination with secret hideouts never wanes, and even Hermione was curious about this magical room.

"It's said that it can transform into rooms for various purposes according to the user's wishes!"

"Then what are we waiting for! Let's go take a look now!" Ron excitedly grabbed the invisibility cloak and was about to pull everyone outside.

Hermione interrupted him mercilessly: "Don't forget, you and Neville have to attend Professor McGonagall's wand-picking training class tomorrow."

"You don't want to be distracted and unable to concentrate in class tomorrow morning, resulting in you choosing a wand that you don't like, right?"

One sentence silenced both Ron and Neville. Although the House of Requirement was still very attractive to them, the wand was obviously more important. The last few days of the holiday were extremely painful for Ron because he was without a wand and everything was inconvenient.

Finally, Ron repeatedly reminded Harry and Hermione not to leave them behind and go to the Room of Requirement alone, but to wait until they had their wands before going together.

The new generation of raiders must leave no one behind!

But actually, the name "The Raiders" is really lame, Hermione thought to herself.
