Hogwarts Wasteland: The Witch from the Borderlands

Chapter 260 Taking That End

Chapter 260 Taking That End

Chapter 260 Taking it to that end

Mikhail will be responsible for making wands for future Hogwarts students, and will also help maintain the wands of other teachers and students.

This job wasn't easy, but he was filled with both excitement and anxiety. "Day after day, facing those identical wands, I was practically becoming a bearing on Grindelwald's wagon. Thank goodness, this castle has all sorts of strange wands!"

He got to examine Hermione's silver staff as he pleased and exclaimed at the incomprehensible goblin metal.

"Metal has never been a suitable material for wands! They can't read magic at all! And they don't understand human nature!"

"What do you mean by merging heartstrings?! Tell me! What do you mean by merging heartstrings?! This isn't magic at all!"

Although it was hard to understand, Hermione's wand still gave him a lot of inspiration, and he happily ran back to experiment.

During this relatively leisurely period, he touched the wands of every student he encountered in the castle and developed his own opinions on wand selection and the merits of artificial wands.

"Undeniably, Wand Picking will give a young wizard the wand most suitable for them, but the significance of the Master Wand lies in its ability to make a wizard's power even greater!"

"Look at the Elder Wand in Grindelwald's hand! With it, that Dark Lord can be invincible!"

Hermione did not comment on this. Although she always believed in the power of individual strength, she would never have too many useful wheelchair-like weapons.

Hogwarts doesn't have many materials for making wands right now; we'll have to wait until we return to the Forbidden Forest near the old castle site in the Scottish Highlands.

Trees and monsters filled with magic would make excellent wand materials.

We'll have to send someone to protect Mikhail then. Hermione has figured it out; this Grigorovich nephew really doesn't have much fighting ability, and his magical skills aren't very high either.

"Could Miss Granger be the bodyguard?"

The staff maker has been completely won over by the Queen of the Gryphon, and believes that as long as she is there, even the dangerous Forbidden Forest can be traversed as if it were flat ground.

After nearly a month of travel, Hogwarts is now close to Edinburgh and nearing its destination in Scotland, but the journey ahead will be even more difficult.

From this distance onward, the radiation levels will increase, and the castle will be further and further away from inhabited settlements. The castle gradually slowed down, partly to better clear the radiation, and partly because the further north it went, the more rugged the terrain became. Every step the castle took involved traversing mountains and rivers, and sometimes Dumbledore had to personally pilot the ship to fly over.

The number of aberrant beast lairs along the way increased, and they became increasingly ferocious. Members of the Order of the Phoenix began to suffer injuries, but fortunately, Hogwarts' medical system was powerful enough that no one was lost.

Harry had finally had enough mandrake leaves in his mouth for a month, and Hermione soaked them in a second prepared crystal potion. After that, he would chant the spell over his heart every day until he could hear his heartbeat clearly.

Hermione had placed the prepared thunderbird feathers in a convenient spot in her pocket; when to light them was up to her own whim.

"You won't light it while I'm in the bathroom, will you?" Harry stared at Hermione, pleading for her assurance.

Hermione said it was a special treat reserved for Ron, but only if Harry behaved himself and didn't cause any trouble.

Ron and Neville's progress in Transfiguration was indeed slow, but seeing that Harry and Draco were both about to have cool animal forms, they began to get a little anxious.

The new raiders are missing just these two; they absolutely cannot be the ones who drag the team down!

They also began to focus all their efforts on mastering shapeshifting, and during their nightly special training sessions at the border, they would consciously use shapeshifting more often in combat.

In Hermione's opinion, everyone should have their own strengths and roles; there's no need for everyone to become an Animagus.

But the boys stubbornly believed that in order to replicate the great achievements of the previous generation of raiders, they had to learn them all!

This made Professor McGonagall quite pleased. The third-year Transfiguration class was showing an extremely competitive situation. With Harry as the leader, Draco also had a good understanding of animal transformation with the help of the Dragon's Blessing. Ron and Neville were also starting to compete fiercely, which made the other third-year students feel miserable and unable to choose.

On the other side of the castle, little Barty was muttering to himself over a seed, with a huge flowerpot in front of him, looking like he was about to embark on a journey into herbalism.

However, the tightly closed doors and windows still indicated that this was an action that should not be seen by outsiders.

"I am now almost certain that Dumbledore's restoration has nothing to do with Lily Potter. That woman's potions skills have absolutely nothing to do with resurrection or breaking curses."

He spoke to the seeds in a soft, low voice, as if he were talking to himself, or as if he were confiding in someone.

"Hermione Granger is teaching brilliance magic at the school, but I think her cherished death magic is the root of all this."

"Getting her to talk is easier than confronting Dumbledore directly. My next step is to find a way to get closer to her and improve our relationship."

"I won't do anything destructive until I get truly valuable intelligence. Keeping my mind closed off in front of Dumbledore is too exhausting—..."

"Furthermore, I have no access to the Pen of Acceptance; it is currently housed in the inner suite of the principal's office."

"I am aware of the alliance with the werewolves. If Hogwarts faces immense external pressure, I might have a chance to sneak into the Headmaster's office amidst the chaos—..."

Gentle air currents swirled around the seed, capturing his words and burying them within its interior.

Suddenly, he stopped rambling.

With a snap, a little elf appeared in the room, carrying a live mouse in its hand.

"Professor, here are the meat rats you requested."

"Actually, we can help you with that." Dobby's words trailed off abruptly as he looked timidly at the little Crouch in front of him.

But the other person seemed to be busy with something, only glancing up briefly at him before looking away.

"I need a live one. Put it down, and don't come any closer," Crouch Jr. said coldly.

"Yes." Dobby didn't dare say another word and disappeared as if fleeing.

Little Barty didn't think much of it; these elves were always so afraid of wizards, especially someone like him from Malfoy Castle.

He grabbed the large rat from the ground, walked to the flowerpot, and used a small silver knife to cut open the rat's belly.

In its violent struggle, the seed was stuffed into the mouse's stomach.

Then the soil in the flowerpot automatically cleared a deep hole, and Little Barty planted it upside down like a scallion, burying the big rat upside down in it.

The soil closed automatically, but you could still see the intense struggle below.

He took out his wand and cast a spell on the flowerpot. The deep, obscure incantation echoed in the air, and gradually, the struggle beneath the soil slowly ceased.

"Let this insignificant death carry my message to the Lord of Death—"

A tiny, vibrant green sprouted from the soil, and as he cast his spell, a message seemed to be carried away to the other side along with the death of the rat.

He seemed momentarily lost in thought, but quickly regained his composure.

Inside the flowerpot, a vibrant green sapwort seedling has already sprouted.

"It looks like it's growing well. Maybe adding some greening agent would make it even better," he said with a smile.
