Chapter 261 The Sound of Wind and the Infiltration

"What! You're saying Crouch returned you to Daddy?!" Draco jumped up from his chair.

Luckily, it was in my own dorm room, otherwise the whole world would have known.

Dobby looked at the boy with an innocent expression.

"He's still a Green Flame infiltrator? Dad even made a deal with him!?" Draco paced back and forth in the room.

"Why didn't you say so sooner!" he exclaimed, his face filled with urgency and lingering fear.

"Nobody asked Dobby," the little elf stared with his big, bright eyes.

Indeed, throughout the entire last year, after meeting Dobby, no one asked him how he escaped. Everyone assumed it was a secret method of the Malfoy family. Even Narcissa and Draco thought it was a backup plan that Lucius had prepared beforehand.

Dobby, having experienced being seriously injured and on the verge of death, captured by the Carrow siblings, and then resurrected, had completely forgotten about this incident. Being allowed to work at Hogwarts made him happy for a long time.

If it weren't for Little Barty asking the kitchen to deliver ingredients, and it just so happened that he was the one delivering them, he probably wouldn't even remember this.

"No! We have to let Hermione and the professors know immediately!"

Draco grabbed his coat.

"Go straight to Professor McGonagall's office and don't show yourself to anyone. I'll go find Hermione first."

Just as Draco caught up with her at the door of the Muggle Studies classroom, Professor McGonagall's Patronus arrived.

"Go directly to the headmaster's office. Hermione knows the password."

The two exchanged a glance and immediately headed up to the 8th floor.

In the principal's office, Draco and Dobby took turns explaining the situation, and finally managed to get the gist of it.

"So, the truth about Dobby's assassination attempt on me has come to light," Hermione said.

"Lucius made a deal with Barty Jr., exchanging the list of new students from Malfoy Castle for Dobby's return to the Malfoy family and his orders to commit the murders!"

"Thanks to Lockhart, if it weren't for him—" McGonagall patted her chest with lingering fear.

"Dobby made a mistake—Dobby—Dobby deserves to die! Dobby forgot something so important!" Even though he no longer had an owner, the little sprite still hadn't forgotten his habit of punishing himself.

He slammed his head against the corner of the table, but McGrath caught him.

"It's not your fault, Dobby, we all forgot," Dumbledore said kindly.

"Fortunately, Little Barty hasn't had time to do anything bad because he's been in hiding."

"Dobby remembered this in time; it's not too late."

"But I still can't believe why Barty Jr.—" McGonagall sighed and shook her head.

"He had everything, his life was smooth, he was a genius in everyone's eyes, even if he hadn't joined Voldemort, he would still be a shining pure-blood rising star. "And how much of a mind-altering drug did he drink to make him so delirious that he would rather kill his father than—" Now, thinking about the death of old Crouch, McGonagall felt a chill. It was probably not some noble murder targeting the Crouch family, but a patricide orchestrated by Barty Jr. himself!

Dumbledore shook his head: "I'm afraid all this will only be revealed when the truth comes out and we confront each other."

Draco, oblivious to everything else, asked Dobby with concern, "Didn't he notice you? He should recognize you, right?"

Dobby shook his head: "Professor Crouch, no, little Crouch seems to be busy with some experiment. He didn't even look at me properly. And I'm afraid even pure-blood nobles can't tell the elves apart." McGonagall said with a hint of dry humor.

Dumbledore turned to McGonagall: "Minerva, go back and, under the guise of checking security, take Moody and the others and thoroughly inspect the school. Don't leave any potential problems for Barty Jr., and be careful not to arouse his suspicion."

The old woman nodded.

He pondered for a moment: "I was wondering why our inside sources didn't send any intelligence about something as important as Little Barty infiltrating the school."

"We still have an inside man?" Not only Hermione, but even McGonagall was taken aback. They all thought that apart from Mundungus, no one else had infiltrated the Green Flame Party.

Old Deng is perfect for espionage; no wonder Filch was captivated by his charisma.

"To be precise, they're not exactly our people." The White Wizard hesitated for a moment.

"Mundungus infiltrated to make contact with him, but he wasn't willing to fully join our ranks."

He looked at the people present: "Dobby, thank you for the information. You can go back now and do as usual." Dobby nodded and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Of the remaining few, McGonagall and Hermione were both very powerful, and Draco was also quite talented in Occlumency, so he no longer held back and spoke frankly.

"It was Severus Snape. He was the one who leaked the intelligence about our rescue of the children, as well as a lot of information about the Green Flame Party."

"That Potions Master!" Hermione's eyes widened in disbelief. She never expected that the two youngest Potions Masters were actually Dumbledore's men!

Draco held his breath. This was the first time he had been involved in a secret of this level, and he felt that his Occlumency training had been incredibly worthwhile!

"He was in the same year as James and the others, but they had a very serious conflict," McGonagall sighed.

"I thought he had really gone into darkness, but thankfully, he is still on the side of light."

Hermione's mind immediately flashed through a million gossip stories: two potions geniuses, a rivalry between boys. She keenly grasped Lily's important role in all of this, but it was really not something she could ask the parties involved.

Dumbledore took out a small glass ball, inside which was preserved some kind of peculiar potion, which was boiling.

It emits a bright green light.

The green light, refracted by the glass sphere, transformed into lines of words, which were then displayed in the air.

"Voldemort has partnered with the werewolf court."

"This is a message just sent by Severus," Dumbledore said.

"Barty Jr. was sent to Hogwarts, while he was sent to Greyback's. I think that's why he wasn't informed of the situation."

"Otherwise, it concerns Lily's safety, he wouldn't have remained silent." The White Wizard looked as sinister as a treacherous villain at this moment.

"So, Mr. Snape is on our side because of Professor Lily?" Hermione couldn't help but ask, her gossipy nature piqued.

"You could say that," Dumbledore said, looking somewhat embarrassed.

"Because of James and others, he could not join the Order of the Phoenix, but he also had a heart full of light and could not tolerate Voldemort's constant killing of children."

"However, in addition to the mermaids, centaurs, and mutants, we now have the Green Flame Party and werewolves to deal with." Hermione frowned.

"It's my fault, because I insisted on eliminating that group of werewolves."

Dumbledore shook his head: "Voldemort would never have let such a good opportunity slip by; it's just that we needed to finish it off in one fell swoop!"

"So what do we do now, Barty?" McGonagall asked.

"Hermione can take him down by herself!" Draco exclaimed, with Lady Fingers also eager to try.

She'd disliked this guy before, so now she could justifiably kill him!

But Dumbledore shook his head: "The most dangerous spies are those hidden in the shadows. Now that he's out in the open, it's best to leave him alone."

The old bee laughed: "Instead of waiting for Tom to continue plotting other schemes, let's have Little Barty pass on some things he wants to know."

"But what do Barty and Voldemort want to know?" Draco asked, puzzled.

"Death magic!" Hermione declared immediately.

"He asked about it in my class!"
