Chapter 503 The End of the Fiery Blaze

The ticking of the clock echoed through the dark hall.

Everything seemed to rewind; the black flames and fiery heads were sucked into the deep cracks one by one as the pocket watch hands moved.

Grindelwald's body rose and slowly pieced together, but the astonishing, scorching scar was difficult to erase, just like the one Hermione had seen last time.

He sat listlessly on the throne, the time converter in his hand finally giving way under the strain, corroding and twisting at an extremely fast speed, turning into a lump of copper.

The changes were not yet over; the furniture and decorations destroyed by the fire were slowly being restored as time went on.

No, that's not a repair, it's more like a replacement.

As the black flames dissipated, Hermione, no longer needing to exert herself to suppress them, surveyed the changes around her.

The burn marks and ashes scattered on the ground were also absorbed into the crack, and a "brand new" dark palace, untouched by the raging fire, replaced the previous one.

"Is this how you suppress the Fiery Blaze?"

Hermione understood slightly, and she frowned as she asked.

"You don't have the ability to digest or suppress them at all. Instead, you use a time converter to—seal them? Banish them? Or do something else?"

She was guessing.

Normal people wouldn't carry around a rare and useless magical item, nor would they use it as their first reaction when the Great Time Mother's Annihilation Storm arrives.

For Grindelwald, however, all of this was already second nature.

"That's a terrible future." The Dark Lord's voice was dry and hoarse, as if it had just come out of an oven.

He was barely breathing, as if he were about to die at any moment.

He casually tossed aside the broken time converter: "A complex and ancient magic, I exchanged my out-of-control reality for another future, accumulating all those irreparable bitter consequences in a flawed but never-reaching future."

He looked at the lump of brass on the ground: "With just a little energy from the converter, I can end this error and get everything back on track."

The Finger Witch frowned even more. This seemingly bizarre but feasible measure actually involved a very profound and dangerous theory of time. Wizards are not as rigorous as Muggles and always act arbitrarily when it comes to time. However, over thousands of years, they have also summarized countless taboos and rules based on human lives.

Grindelwald, however, boldly broke countless of these rules, exchanging the false and the true, the right and the wrong.

"Those unrealized futures are all false. You yourself are a prophet, don't you know that?"

She criticized that putting real-world errors into a false future and then turning that false future into reality might not have any immediate impact, but in the long run, it will definitely cause problems, especially since Grindelwald is sealing away the Fiendfire of destruction!

Moreover, if this method is really so omnipotent, why didn't he just replace his eroded future from the beginning? That way he would never have to worry about it again.

"There was no problem originally." The white-haired old man raised his eyes to look at Hermione, his gaze deep.

"But ever since your black ball broke the boundary" —

The witch was startled. She looked at the ancient darkness at the tip of her staff. The faint cracking sound she had made when dealing with Lucius now echoed around her like thunder.

According to the theory of parallel universes, countless futures intertwine in the long river of destiny. They do not interfere with each other, develop freely, and cannot cross over to each other.

Only in very special circumstances can a person travel to a parallel universe, but that usually causes major problems, such as encountering their counterpart.

The forbidden magic of the night, the celestial bodies that bring eternal darkness—Hermione had previously thought that it had broken the barrier of Earth, allowing Outer Gods to descend at will.

The calm of these past few days led her to believe that her recklessness at the time had not caused too many bad consequences, and Grindelwald did not investigate anything further.

But now she understands that breaking down the world barrier has another meaning—the barrier between time periods has also been broken!

"The border area!" She suddenly thought of her hometown.

In that chaotic land, time and space were reversed, and people almost completely lost their perception of time.

The Dragon King could move a city into a spacetime rift. The Faded Ones, who had been wandering outside for a long time, returned only to find that countless years had passed since the Broken War.

Was that also caused by the Knoxians? The ancient darkness disrupted the stability of spacetime, causing time to flow at varying speeds and allowing gods from different times and spaces to descend at will?

She suddenly had another realization: those Outer Gods might not be peering through the atmosphere in the vast, desolate universe, but rather exploring on the other side of time in another world they ruled.

Grindelwald, on the other hand, sealed the flawed and destructive future at the other end of time and space, and was able to remain safe thanks to the protection of the world barrier.

But Hermione's actions inadvertently disrupted this fragile balance, allowing the Fiendfire to trace back along the trail of destruction of the Great Rune.

Grindelwald's loss of control had three contributing factors.

First, he arrogantly withdrew the Black Sun, intending to suppress the Fiery Blaze alone.

Second, the ominous prophecy brought by the Aurora Messenger disturbed his mind.

Third, and most importantly, the collapse of that boundary further reduced his ability to resist the fierce fire.

"Why didn't you say so sooner?" Hermione complained, not realizing she was partly responsible.

But how could the proud and arrogant Grindelwald blame a minor witch? He simply endured it quietly, as if nothing had happened, and let everything proceed as usual.

Until recently, his arguments with Hermione worsened his mood, and some of the witch's words shook him to his core.

All these factors accumulated and finally became the last straw that broke the camel's back.

Fortunately, he was alone in the hall at that time, and with his last bit of reason and magic, he sealed off the third layer, only throwing Adam out to call for help, thus preventing a bigger mess from happening.

At this moment, no one outside the tower even noticed what was happening. Apart from Rita Skeeter, who was a little curious, no one else knew that the Dark Lord had summoned Hermione.

However, she is a sensible woman; she wouldn't say anything carelessly, and she might already be going to find Hilmi.

"In your condition, let alone attacking the Fairy Realm, it's hard to say whether you can even last until the end of winter," Hermione said worriedly.

Unlike last time when only the skull was split open, this time it's the entire upper body!

The gruesome wound looked extremely frightening.

"Do you still have a time converter? Even if this method has its risks, we at least need to get through this period," the Finger Witch pondered.

A secret war with the fairies is about to begin, and our strongest forces cannot afford any mishaps.

"If we can get the Wish Cup, maybe we can use the chance to make a wish to solve—" She didn't finish her sentence, but she noticed that Grindelwald's gaze towards her held a moment of kindness and relief.

"That's all, this is the last one." The old man shook his head.

"I've collected and used up all the time-twisters from the Ministry of Magic in France, Germany, Belgium, and Austria."

He pinched his cracked brow, pondering, "If there's any possibility that it might still remain, it can only be in the London underground."
